How long is the tour?
The Franklin History tour is 2 hours. The Murder and Mayhem and Haunted Franklin tours are 90 minutes. The Taste of Franklin food tour is 3 hours. Our programs for kids — I Spy Downtown Franklin, Local Lore and Listening to the Past — are closer to an hour.
How much walking is involved?
The Classic Franklin tour covers about six city blocks spread out over 2 hours. We walk a ways and tell a story, walk a little farther and tell another story, and so on. All the walking is on flat city sidewalks. Both the Murder and Mayhem and Haunted Franklin tours cover about six blocks as well. Many of the stops have steps where guests can sit and listen to the stories.
Where can I park?
All of the public parking in downtown Franklin is free. You can park on the street for two hours or all day in one of the two public parking garages. There is one on 2nd Avenue South and the other on 4th Avenue South. Some private pay parking lots have recently opened, but you should be able to find a free spot.
WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
We go rain or shine. If it’s just a bit drizzly, bring an umbrella. We usually cancel if it’s thundering and lightning or under freezing.
Is the tour wheelchair accessible?
Most tours are 100% wheelchair accessible. If you have a concern about wheelchair accessibility, please let us know when you book your tour and we will make every effort to accommodate the wheelchair.
What about tipping the tour guide?
Tipping is not required but always appreciated. Hugely appreciated.
Can I bring my dog?
Many people walk dogs in downtown Franklin. Please keep in mind, however, that you may be on a tour with as many as 25 other people. The Classic Franklin tour spends about 20 minutes inside a church. If you choose to bring a dog we ask that you use discretion and good judgment.
Can I take pictures?
Of course. Just let us know if you get anything “interesting” on the ghost tours.
